-> 'stay up'이란 '늦은 시간까지 자지 않고 깨어 있다'라는 뜻으로 주로 뒤에 'late' 혹은 'till + 시간'이 온다. 예를 들어 'She stayed up till 3 o'clock talking on the phone.'이라고 하면 '그녀는 어제 3시까지 자지 않고 전화 통화를 했어'라는 뜻이 된다.
